MOSCOW - The National Depository Center (NDC), Russia's only settlement depository servicing the full range of Russian securities, and Closed Joint-Stock Company “Surgutinvestneft” have begun experimental use of an electronic data interchange (EDI) system in their information interactions. The use of EDI with Surgutinvestneft within the framework of NDC’s project for development of EDI with registrars will provide for an increase in the NDC’s aggregate share of EDI operations with joint-stock companies’ registers by 1.5%.

This experimental mode envisages cooperation between NDC as a nominal shareholder and Surgutinvestneft involving both electronic and paper-based forms whenever Surgutinvestneft makes records of its operations and submits its accounts data to NDC. Cooperation between the participants is powered by the client’s workplace software SED NDC (Luch).

A information cooperation contract was signed by NDC and Surgutinvestneft on May 24, 2007. An agreement for completion of testing of the EDI system is dated July 25, 2007, and the parties will then transition to paperless interaction after a period of experimental use.
