NSD’s project of developing an e-proxy voting prototype based on blockchain technology has been nominated for the Futures & Options World (FOW) International Awards in the “Best New Technology Product” category. Other nominees in this category include projects from NASDAQ and FinTech companies Symbiont and SETL. The results will be announced 7 December at a London gala.

NSD became one of the first financial institutions in the world to create a service prototype based on blockchain technology. The blockchain-based e-proxy voting system was successfully tested by NSD for bond holder meetings in April 2016. The product was developed on the basis of NXT, the network distributed cryptographic platform, and the ISO 20022 international standard is used to exchange messages.

NSD’s initiatives aimed at using new post-trade technologies gained wide international recognition. Previously, the UK magazine Banking Technology, which covers FinTech issues in the banking and financial sectors, nominated Eddie Astanin, Chairman of the Executive Board of NSD, for the 2016 Banking Technology Awards. NSD’s CEO was nominated in the personal category Tech Leadership Award, which is given to industry leaders who made the biggest development contributions.
