Exchange of messages and conducting operations in securities owners registers using electronic document management (EDMS) allows carrying out a whole range of work with documents:
automate formation, acceptance, registration and processing of documents;
ensure confidentiality during information exchange between parties;
increase operational efficiency of information exchange;
unify interaction of securities market infrastructure elements.
When using the "closed envelope" scheme, sent electronic documents are encrypted after formation using the recipient's public encryption keys. When transmitting documents through Web-service, package encryption is not required, only documents inside the package are encrypted. This scheme does not allow NSD to access information.
When using the "open envelope" scheme, transmitted electronic documents are not encrypted. When using the "open envelope" scheme, transmitted electronic documents can be decrypted by NSD, which allows NSD to control the structure (format, specification) of transmitted files and guarantees the recipient receives a document correct in structure (format, specification).

NSD provides the opportunity for interaction between registrars, NSD and persons registered in registers during exchange of corporate information related to conducting general meeting of shareholders with the possibility of electronic voting at general meetings of shareholders (E-proxy voting).
