NSD Participates in NeMa Americas 2013

National Settlement Depository (NSD), Russia’s central securities depository, took part in NeMa Americas 2013 (Network Management Conference) held on 23-24 October in New York. NeMa Americas is an ICBI annual conference covering issues of post trading infrastructure and securities market development. NSD was a sponsor of the forum.

More than 100 delegates took part in the conference, including representatives of central securities depositories, global custodians, broker companies, regional banks, exchanges from North America and South America and other continents.

The main points for discussion at the forum were regulatory issues, cost reduction, risk management, implementation of innovative strategies in the changing financial market infrastructure, and further consolidation of the banking community.

Eddie Astanin, Chairman of the Executive Board, NSD, spoke at a panel session covering recent key events in the financial markets of Central and Eastern Europe. In particular, in his report he pointed out the large scale changes in the Russian stock market related to the formation of the central securities depository and the subsequent rise of foreign investors’ interest in Russia. The participants also discussed the problems and tasks of post trading infrastructure.
