NSD Strengthens International Relations

National Settlement Depository (NSD), Russia’s central securities depository, took part in the Network Management Conference (NeMa) organized by the International Centre for Business Information in Vienna on 10 June 2014. This is the fourth time NSD has cooperated with the organizers of this major event in the European post trading industry; the company acted as the conference’s partner and delegated its representatives to the forum. NeMa is one of the most important events of the year uniting the leading managers of the financial market and post-trading sector specialists from all over the world. Every year more than 400 delegates from brokerage companies, global custodians, regional banks, regulators, exchanges and central securities depositories attend the event.

This year, the conference was focused on strengthening of business cooperation and increasing the efficiency of external relations in the changing market. The conference’s program covered three spheres: “New thinking for the industry", “Clearing, settlement and operational task forces” and “Strategy labs”.

A panel discussion “Central Securities depositories of Eastern and Central Europe: How is the Operating Environment Changing?” was conducted as a part of the second item of the program. Maria Ivanova, Vice President responsible for development and client relations, NSD, took part in the panel discussion together with colleagues from Raiffeisen Bank International and CSDs from Austria and Poland. Ms. Ivanova spoke about the strategy of additional services development and about the advantages of European market harmonization in accordance with the T+2 model. Ms. Ivanova paid special attention to the differing strategies of CSDs located within and outside the EU that are attributable to the peculiarities of local regulations.
