On 3-6 September 2014, the 12th International Banking Forum “Russian Banks – 21th Century” organized by the Association of Regional Banks of Russia was held in Sochi. The 16th Banking Conference “Models of Financial Sector Development in the Conditions of Globalization: Russia and International Practice” and a number of panel discussions covering the topical issues of banking practice were conducted during the Forum.
Among the speakers were Ksenia Yudayeva, First Deputy Chairperson of the Bank of Russia, Mikhail Sukhov, Deputy Chairman of the Bank of Russia, Anatoly Aksakov, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee for Financial Market, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Finance, leading financial analysts and representatives of banking and corporate sectors.
Elena Gusalova, Director of Research and Development Department, NSD, took part in the panel discussion “Regulation and Development of Financial Market Infrastructures”; representatives of the Bank of Russia, asset management companies and associations also participated in the discussion. The panel discussion topics included new instruments of financial market, creation of the National Payment Cards System, formats and ways of interaction between the banking and insurance markets, development of information technologies in the financial sector, advantages of working through the Russian central counterparty and other topical issues. Elena Gusalova spoke about the post trading settlement infrastructure’s role in financial market development, about recent changes related to the Law “On Central Securities Depository” and about NSD’s short term plans for services development.
