National Settlement Depository (NSD) is happy to announce the results of the testing of business processes critical to the interruption that took place 25 September. That day, the NSD’s divisions responsible for conducting business processes critical to the interruption operated primarily from the backup office. To conduct settlement operations, backup office personnel activated the telecommunications channels and software and technical complexes allowing for information exchange with the Inter-regional Informatization Center of the Bank of Russia and for interchanges with the Banking Electronic Speed Payment System (BESP). Backup office specialists accessed software products to conduct the NSD’s settlement, depository and repository processes critical to the interruption.
Among the key factors that allowed to achieve good results were backup office infrastructure that was adequate to the NSD’s needs, the existence and sufficiency of the newest software and hardware of the backup office, the high level of operating interactions taking into account the existing correlation between the sub-processes and a certain order of their execution.
These results allow us to recognize the testing as successful and affirm the high level of the NSD's preparedness to provide uninterrupted services to clients in emergency situations.
