NSD Takes Part in the AECSD Forum

National Settlement Depository (NSD), Russia’s central securities depository, took part in the 14th International Association of Eurasian Central Securities Depositories (AECSD) held in 7 September 2017 in Minsk, Belarus. This year’s event was focused on issues related to corporate information. The forum was organized by the Republican Central Securities Depository of Belarus.

The conference brought together representatives of depository and banking communities of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, India, Kazakhstan, Korea, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, international CSDs – Euroclear Bank SA/NV and Clearstream Banking SA., the international rating agency Thomas Murray, and S.W.I.F.T. Delegates discussed issues related to corporate information collection and distribution, as well as the role of CSDs, information technologies, innovations, and market regulation.

First Deputy Minister of Finance of the Republic of Belarus Maxim Yermolovich delivered a welcoming speech to the conference.

Alexey Krasinsky, Deputy Director of the Securities Department of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Belarus, the country’s stock market regulator, presented to the conference’s participants a report on recent changes in the national securities market.

National Settlement Depository was represented by Eddie Astanin, Chairman of the company’s Executive Board, Maria Krasnova, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board, Sergey Bernevega, Managing Director for Corporate Information, Sergey Aristov, Director of Client Relations and Network Management Department, and Dmitry Ivanov, Head of Securities Accounts Network Management, who also is the AECSD secretary. Maria Krasnova presented a report “Latest Changes on the Russian Financial Market. Results of the Corporate Actions Reform.” Sergey Bernevega took part in the panel discussion “CSD Role in the Process of Corporate Information Distribution.”

Conferences and experience exchange seminars are traditional events for the AECSD members. The conference participants discussed best global practices and set out next steps to be taken to advance cooperation.

The Association was founded based on the resolution on forming the Association of Eurasian Central Securities Depositories adopted by participants of the First (founding) conference of the AECSD on 22 December 2004.

The Association's key goal is to develop and enhance depository operations, create a common depository "environment" in accordance with standards of the global securities settlement system.
